Victory Brewing – Downington, PA
Update December 2011: Well, we went back. Got a seat at the bar. Food wasn’t too bad, service wasn’t either, but the beer is just not there. I know that works people up, but it just doesn’t grab us the right way. Rarely is any of it bad, but never have we been really excited about any of it. Looking back on things, a little farther down the road than our original review – I am moving these guys to 3.5 Gizmogs. Sorry, it just fits there better. Comments?
Victory is a pretty cool place! Its big, a lot of tables, a big bar – but its always full! We still have not been able to get a bar seats here. They have a huge number of brews, which you can review in the beer book and then select 10 of them for your sampler. You will almost surely find something that will be a winning beer for your palate. Neither of us could really say that any of them are in our top 10, but at the same time, there isn’t anything in the bottom 10 either. The atmosphere is good – lively and a bit noisy- game room in the back near the gift shop and the bar all the way in the front left. It can get pretty busy, so plan your visit time accordingly of you don’t like to wait. These guys were just included on the top-20 list of breweries in the US (on of of the larger search sites) so lots of people like the spot. Certainly worth a visit when you are in the area.

I simply have experenced Victory different than you. I truly love about 4 of there beers and have never tasted one that was bad. They have a great selection. I think this place will eventually get the rating it deserves, about the best in the north east! But, I have to say, you need to wait for that charished seat at the bar. Also, there is nothing cooler than watching that growler contraption work. I’ve never seen less than about 5 growlers on the bar at any given time. Love it!
Thanks for reading and posting Mark! We really do like Victory in an overall sense – but nothing really fits at the top of our favorie beer list. Nothing we would call bad, but nothing exceptional (in our opinion anyway). Hopefully we will get lucky and get a bar seat sometime – since we really are rating everything about the business, the bar experience will be key. We will certainly update this page when we return. The growler filler is amazing – Lyssa just got a travel growler for Christmas so we will need to stop by and give it a shot!
