Iron Hill Brewery – Lancaster, PA
Iron Hill is a fairly widespread chain – There are a number in South East PA, but this review is pertaining to the Lancaster, PA location – Just on the edge of the Franklin & Marshall campus.
I would assume their locations to all have a similar theme which is a modern, dark, woody and more or less upscale feel. We have sat at the bar on all of our trips (surprise) and the service has been pretty good. For a beer chain restaurant, its pretty good. I remember having a smoked beer that I liked, but was a bit harsh for Lyssa. Neither of us put their beers at the top of our favorites list, but its a nice place with pretty good service. there is an autographed sampler paper mat hanging behind the bar from that guy from the movie ‘Clerks’ – Dante is his name (in the movie) and I am told we looked a good bit alike – you be the judge. Anyway, nice place, drinkable beer and pretty good food. I would try some other locations in the area before it, but for a big dinner or a group that isn’t that much into brews it might be worth the time.

I really enjoyed this place. I visited it last night. It was the first bar I visited in Lancaster and I really liked it. I had the sampler, which included 4 oz each of their 8 house beers and 2 seasonal beers. Some were very good and some were kind of interesting and different. Since this was my first bar in Lancaster, I didn’t have another bar to compare it with. I would give it a higher rating. I didn’t try the food but I will next time!

Its a good start – now you have many more to try! Being a chain they are generally pretty solid but I think you will find some other spots in town that you will like better! Keep us posted on your visits! Thanks!
Bad beer. Chain beer is never good. It tasted better once I pissed it out. Pass.
